Yes – everyone is a media outlet. My understanding when I worked in radio, was that we banked on that concept. We wanted to say something, and then word of mouth spread the information. The problem was that if someone got the information wrong, then the word of mouth didn’t do us any good. My point is, modern day ‘lame stream’ media has encouraged the idea that we should seek other non-professional sources for information for years – just not in the ‘stop tuning into channel 5 at 11 PM’ sort of way.

I’m not slacking off – i’m compiling!
Guess who has two thumbs and has been slacking off? L Sadly, I’m at a University, so that describes most of us. So let me be more specific – who has two thumbs and has managed to have high aspirations about getting this blog together but has only accomplished one step that seems only important to me and no one else? This girl. Oops.

Blurry lines
I have a problem with Flickr. To be specific, I have problems with people who argue about Flickr. Yes, pages like Flickr do make the lines between professional photography and amateur photography blurry, but why on earth does that matter to… well anyone? I apologize for my personal rant, but one of these papers sparked up a good natured debate between a friend of mine who is a ‘amateur photographer’ as she calls it, because she does commission her work, but it is not entirely what she does for a living. She does use Flickr for some of her work, but dislikes it because people can go there and browse by specific tags and email people if they can use their work.

I would say that since taking this class, I can understand more why twitter is a medium of the masses. My personal use of twitter has been 99.9999% consumption, and 0.0001% production. I can see why people enjoy it, because I like to use it as a medium to follow specific news people – but why not your friends as well? I currently check facebook about as frequently as I check twitter (a few times a day), but i’m finding i’m moving to more twitter and less facebook.
My data is going to be mined in either location, but I think the concept of micro blogging on my blog is pretty amusing, and something that I have already looked to incorporate! (Currently I have a widget that shows my feed at the bottom of my blog page – scroll down!) but, I am looking for a way to integrate it into my meganspurr.wordpress.com.
Timeline
For my project, I feel that the timeline is fairly limited. I would like to see things set-up in a fairly short order.
Online portfolio review
The first portfolio website I came across, gave me a nice idea in that I like being able to group some of my pages together under specific topics. For example, I am looking for a gallery page, as well as a multimedia page, which I like howTylerhere keeps these under the heading Selected Work. On the down side for his site, that I do not think I will come across as necessary on mine, he has split frames because his list of works is so long, that you have to scroll. It looks awful, and I feel like it’s a throwback to Geocities. (SorryTyler).
